LPG conversions for petrol vehicles : FAQ's
How will converting my car to LPG save me money?
The retail price of LPG (Autogas) is less than half the price
of diesel or petrol. This is because the tax is far lower
for LPG in recognition of its environmental benefits, and
also because it is produced as a by-product of oil extraction
and refining operations. The UK produces a surplus of LPG
each year.
What is LPG?
LPG stands for Liquefied Petroleum Gas and is the generic
term for commercial propane and commercial butane. It
is also referred to as Autogas. At room temperature it
is a gas, but when pressurised it turns into a liquid,
allowing for easy transportation and storage.
How
will it affect my car's performance?
Gastech install fully developed ‘Sequential Multipoint’ LPG conversions.
Due to the efficiency of these systems, your car will suffer no noticeable loss
of performance. Engines generally run more smoothly when on LPG.
Will
I be exempt from Congestion Charging?
Certian low emission vehicles (meeting Band 4, 40% improvement on Euro IV emissions
targets) qualify for Congestion Charge Exemption.

be a good selling point.
What
happens if I run out of LPG?

runs out of LPG, it will automatically change over to run on petrol.
Where
can I refuel?
There are now over 1,400 LPG refuelling stations in the UK.

Will
my insurance be affected?
We recommend you notify your insurance company. Following a Gastech conversion,
we supply an LPGA Certificate of Compliancy. The major insurance companies will
not increase your premium, knowing that the conversion has been correctly carried
out.
Are LPG conversions safe?
The strength and integrity of tanks fitted to LPGA safety
guidelines (COP11) make the LPG fuel system safer
than petrol.
The
tank and gas pipes are fitted with numerous safety devices.
The gas flow will automatically stop if the pipes are damaged
or the engine is not running. If the vehicle catches fire,
the gas tank pressure is controlled via cylinder venting,
which will prevent the tank from rupturing.
